Nimmitabel Bluestone is hewn from the Snowy Mountains. No other basalt withstands disintegration in our freezing nights and baking days like Nimmitabel Bluestone. A sawn cross section of this stone reveals few if any fracture lines. This prevents frost from expanding and heaving the stone into pieces. The consistency of this stone makes it very workable for dressing. The colour and texture variation is subtle.
